Earth
Earth was the hardest hit of all the planets during the First Solar War in 2206, with most cities reduced to rubble and survivors circling together in small scattered towns. While the Protection was the official government of Earth until the end of the Second Solar War, it is unknown how many of these disparate communities recognized Protection rule, if they were even aware of their existence at all.
Venus
The Venusian colony was established in the early 2100s by the United States, as part of a race against China to be the first country to permanently colonize a planet. The race essentially ended in a tie. After China's Martian colony successfully fought and won their independence in 2139, the United States allowed Venus to become an independent American territory in 2143. Venus is known for the 'acid barrier', a layer of microscopic drones that filter the atmosphere above the planet's inhabited regions and allows citizens to enjoy the outdoors without a space suit. Their two major cities consist of the capital New Washington, and the neighboring city of Bright Star.
Mars
China established a colony on Mars in the early 2100s, in a colonization race with the United States that ended in a tie. To allow its people to go outside, the Martian colonists employed the use of 'atmospheric generators' - specialized machines designed to change the composition of Mar's atmosphere over time to make it more Earth-like. In 2139, Mars fought for and eventually won their independence, starting a larger conversation about the autonomy of planetary colonies. Currently, Mars' only notable city is the capital of Rogue.
Jupiter
The Jovian colony was a collaboration between several extremely wealthy individuals who wanted to create a 'premium' colony for those who could afford it. Rather than build on a planetary surface, which would have been impossible on Jupiter, a system of gigantic interlocked domes that could orbit the planet was painstakingly constructed over several decades. The project was officially completed and opened to residence applications in 2158, although many of the original financial backers had been living in the main dome for years at that point. The colony consists of one large center dome - the Hub - used for housing, with four specialized domes protruding from it like spokes on a wheel. The Market contains most of the business sector, the Farm is where food is grown, the Hangar stores spacecraft, and the Theater is the entertainment district, and also contains more affordable housing compared to the Hub. An elaborate monorail system runs through the entire colony to provide quick transportation anywhere in the domes.
