Kelly McBride was born on December 3, 2191, in a small rural town in Ontario, Canada. A natural athlete, Kelly developed a keen interest in hockey and had her sights set on playing professionally one day. A few months into her first year of high school, synchronized attacks from the Refinery caused the beginning of the First Solar War. Kelly's family flew down to Houston, Texas to be with their extended family before travel was locked down.

Near the end of the war, Kelly was abducted by Refinery soldiers and cybernetically enhanced into a remote-controllable soldier. The program was eventually shut down, and the Refinery sent more soldiers to kill Kelly as a way of hiding the evidence. Joel Williams was able to rescue her, but she was separated from her family and a malfunction of the cybernetics nearly completely wiped her memory. It is unknown if any of her memory will return, but she was able to recall a few things after meeting her sister Madison.

Kelly was one of the four people who discovered travolite in a cave near the town of Nameless, and fought with the Resistance in the Second Solar War.
